CHAPTER 3 OF MY NEXT NOVEL, WAS IT WORTH IT?

“Good morning sunshine”.

“Good morning Derrick, are you hungry?”

“Oh man am I”. Cynthia went at it again with the cooking thing; Derrick couldn’t believe this angel that was placed in his life. Cynthia was beautiful, a good cook, a damn good lover, an all around good woman.

“What are you making for breakfast?”

“Biscuits with syrup, Canadian ham, Cheese Eggs and Grits”.

“Wooooooweee!!!”

“Derrick listen I had a great time, but I don’t think I can do this again”.

Don’t start Cyn please”.
“Derrick it’s a sin”.

“You knew it was a sin last night, so what are you saying? How is being in love a sin?”

“You don’t even know me”.

“And you didn’t even know me, but you slept with me why? Because you have feelings for me”

“Yes I have strong feelings for you”.

“Cynthia I know what you mean; I’m in love with you too baby. I never believed in love at first sight, but it works; you are a special woman, you are amazing in more ways then one. I am proud to say, that I done found me a good woman”. They both laughed.

“I’m serious Cyn, I have never thanked God so much for anything in my life; I wanted to find a woman that I could marry and settle down with and who knew that my prayers would be answered”.

“Thank you Derrick, I feel the same”.

“So just relax and let’s make things official. Saturday there is a boat ride over Lake George; will you take that ride with me? Just bring some overnight clothes, they have a beautiful hotel there, very elegant and classy, you’ll love it, is it a date?”

“Sure why not”.

“Good! Now can we eat?”

The Lake was beautiful especially when the moon light hit it; the water shimmered to perfection and the light from the moon, lit up the whole lake.

“Oh Derrick everything is perfect, the hotel, the boat ride, the evening, and especially you. I thank God for you, you’re a good man, and I do love you, and thank you for accepting me and not judging me, now come here and give Big Mama a big ole kiss”.

Derrick took Cynthia and brought her closer.

“Do you feel the rays from the moon? Do you see how strong the light is? Well that is how I feel about you Cynthia, in this short amount of time I have never been happier, I wasn’t planning on going to church to find a woman, I just made every excuse to my friend John, whenever he invited me to church, and I just kept saying, I would come, so when he asked me the last time just so he would stop asking me, I thought this time I would just live up to my word and go, but when I saw you, I was automatically in love. I didn’t know your situation, I didn’t care if you were married, or if you had ten kids, I just wanted to be with you. I think that you should know that I have no kids. I have never been married before and I have been searching for “Ms. Right, or even “Ms. Half way right” for so long and now I swear, I know that I found her”. Derrick grabbed Cynthia’s hand got down on one knee and placed a diamond ring on her finger that shined as bright as the moon.

“Cynthia Shiann Constant, will you marry me?”

Cynthia was in shock, she was speechless and numb.

“Are you sure about this Derrick, I mean really sure?”

“If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t have given you this ring. I don’t want to lose you, I know we just met, but I know you are the one. I know how the Pastor feels about relationships not approved by God, but I don’t want some saved and sanctified brotha’ to come in and take you away, because he’s living right and I’m not. I want God in my life for me, not just to be with you, he answered my prayers, and I want to thank him by giving my life to him”.

“Praise the Lord, thank you Jesus; God is a good God”.

“Yes, he is”.

“Derrick when do you want to do this?”

“ASAP!”

Cynthia and Derrick continued to see each other on the down low, they decided to wait a month or two before they announced there up coming wedding; there would be a lot of jealous women, but they made a vow to each other, that their love would always remain uninterrupted.

And four years later, Derrick and Cynthia still remain and live happily ever after and, as far as, the Devil was concerned, living that long and happy, was too long for him and he was determined to make sure that it wouldn’t last another four years.

Each morning Cynthia and Derrick left the house at the same time. Cynthia in her white Mercedes convertible and Derrick with his money green Volvo. Financially Cynthia and Derrick were pretty much straight, God was definitely blessing them in that area.

Cynthia had a very interesting job that she’s been at for the past 10 years, and she loved. Her Co-Workers were like her second family, and not to mention it paid very well.

Cynthia’s job just kept getting more and more interesting, each time it was different and definitely never boring; Cynthia sat at her desk and looked at her husband’s picture, she felt an excitement come over her, something that made her anxious to get home every day.

Cynthia’s day basically was the same routine everyday; she would go in and have coffee with the Judge, prepare all the cases for the day and talk about what a fabulous weekend she had.

“Cyndi, how’s Derrick treating you these days?”

“Oh Judge he is just the greatest, I can’t thank God enough for him”.

“Cynthia you have been working for me what seems like forever, and I never get a chance to say thank you for all you do for me; you know Margaret and the kids adore you, and I am so proud of you because even before you were married you did what you had to do, you kept yourself clean, respectable and honorable, and I know you know what I mean by that; there aren’t many women out there like you, but there’s an exception when it comes to my beautiful wife Margaret, she is of course the best wife in the world”.

“Oh really, well my husband tells me that I am the best wife in the world”.

“Well put it this way, him and I, have the best two wives in the world”. “Thank you Judge”.

“Come on let’s go out here and try to bring civilization to the uncivilized.”

The first case up was Miller vs. Miller; Mrs. Eileen Miller was suing Edward Miller for everything he had and some.
“All rise for the Honorable Judge Tobias Dante”.
The people stood orderly as the Judge was seated.

“You may be seated. Mrs. Miller your suing Edward Miller for alimony, along with the house, a Jeep Cherokee, a Vacation home in Miami and a Diamond ring?

“Yes Sir”.

“On what grounds?”

“I’m sorry your Honor, I’m afraid I don’t know what you mean”.

“Why are you suing your husband
Mrs. Miller?”

“Oh cause he was dishonest”.

“Dishonest in what way Mrs. Miller?”

“He was disfaithful”.

“Disfaithful Mrs. Miller, I still do not understand the purpose of your case”.

“What don’t you understand your Honor, I’m being as clear as possible”.
“And I appreciate that Mrs. Miller, but you’re not making any sense”. The court room chuckled.

“What do you mean?”

“What I mean Mrs. Miller is there is no such word as “Disfaithful” and prior to that you said, he was being dishonest, was he cheating on you
Mrs. Miller?”

“Yeah”.

“Okay now we are getting somewhere; my next question is this, why are you hear suing, why don’t you get a divorce and then take it from there”.

“I told her that your Honor”.

“Oh shut up Eddie, you wanna be playa!”

“Grow up Eileen go find somebody else to help you buy your weave”.

“I know you anit trying to embarrass somebody?”

The two married couple bickered back and forth while the Judge looked at Cynthia and painfully held in his laugh.

Mr. and Mrs. Miller was a very odd couple, because Mrs. Miller was black and straight from the hood and Mr. Miller was white who had a large amount of money that Mrs. Miller wanted to take back to the hood with her.

“Order in the Court! You two need some counseling, I can help you along those line with some references, but I am not a divorce Judge you need a Lawyer”.

“Your Honor he won’t give me no divorce”.

“I never said that, I just said that if you pay for it, I’ll give you one”.

“Why won’t you help pay for it if you want to divorce her Mr. Miller?”
“Your Honor Eileen is nothing but a lazy, blood sucking leach, she doesn’t want to work, she doesn’t want to clean and she’s nasty. I have tried my best to take care of her and love her, but she loves her “Hood”, as she always seems to remind me”.

“Now you know you lyin’, I’m divorcing you because you cheated on me with a person and a thing!”
The courtroom was in hysterics they couldn’t imagine what the “thing” was or for that matter who the “person” was; then from somewhere in the audience a voice rang out like the horn of Gabriel.

“You little bald head beetle you, you need to go wash your ass and stop trying to embarrass my man!” Everybody turned to look at this woman who was about 400 pounds, black as the ace of spades, with a long red wig with long red fingernails, with a gold silk shirt, a black leather mini skirt and gold pumps.

“Sit your fat ass down!”

“I’m gonna come over there and sit your ass down you bald headed bitch”.

This was a very different and unusual case usually the Judge would not allow any foolishness like that in his courtroom, but for some reason he was getting a big kick out of this whole thing; Cynthia could see him laughing behind a folder he was pretending to be reading. Cynthia also saw the look on Bailiffs Schwartz’s face, he was hoping that he didn’t have to be removing nobody from the court room or break up any fights, he was just too old and he wasn’t in the mood.

“Your Honor that is the woman I caught him in the bed with, he was having oral sex with her and she’s so big, that I couldn’t even see his head; I thought it was the headless horsemen or something; then to top that all off, the thing that I am talking about is our dog Trisket; while Eddie was having oral sex with big bad Mama over there, Trisket was humping on Eddie’s ass”.
The whole court room was laughing so hard some were even in tears.
At this point the Judge had made a quick dash to his Chambers; Cynthia followed behind him.

When Cynthia went into the Chambers, the Judge was sitting at his desk with his face red as a beet, with tears streaming down his face, holding on to his chest. “Cyndi, did I just hear what I thought I heard?”

“Yes your Honor, I’m just trying not to picture it; will you be able to go back out there?”

“I need a drink”.

“No sir, you will not have a drink; I can go out there and dismiss it for you if you want me too?”
As the Judge and Cynthia were talking there was a knock on the door; Cynthia went to answer it. “Tell the Judge to remain in his Chambers Mr. and Mrs. Miller started fighting then the woman from the audience came and began banging on Mrs. Miller, it is a mess out there”.

“The case is dismissed Charlie, when everything is calmed down, inform each party that they will be receiving a letter via mail”.

“Will do Mrs. Washington”

“Judge in all my days I have never seen such foolishness in my life”.

Cynthia didn’t hear a response from the Judge, when she turned around the Judge was lying back in his chair holding his heart.
